Open Montage
Planned, not yet started
The main goal of the Open Montage Project is to produces a simple, intuitive and yet complete consumer level Non Linear Video Editing (NLVE) software for Linux.
I wish to produce a NLVE software that is as feature complete as MainActor was. I already have some precise ideas about the design of the application but nothing on "paper" yet. The ideas are still (cooking) in my head.
However, there is some design guidelines already fixed in my mind, Open Montage will:
- Have an intuitive and modern UI (like Kaltura Editor or Final Cut)
- Use Qt
- Be programmed in C++ or Ruby or any other programming language supporting Qt

- Re-use existing video and audio libraries already available for Linux instead or reinventing the wheel (a more pragmatic reason: I can't do it all by myself without using 3rd party librairies)
I have registered the project on SourceForge but there is not much there yet. Stay tuned.
Meanwhile, you are more than welcome to contribute your ideas in the comments below or on the UserVoice's project page:
