New Project: Montage Non Linear Video Editor

I've been waiting a long time for a good, simple and easy to use Non Linear Video Editor (NLVE) to emerge on Linux.  Every time I have to edit a small home video from miniDV footage on Linux, I have to fight with Kino and it's unfriendly interface. Yes, Kino does the job but it's painful.  I've tried other Open Source NLVE also with mitigate success (KDEnlive, Cinerella, etc.)

There is nothing out there that "scratch my itch": I need a consumer level NLVE on Linux to simply do the following steps:

Netbook growth cuts into Microsoft's earnings

SFGate.com has published an interesting article about the relation between the netbook explosive growth and Microsoft's profits going down.

Because most of the netbooks are not powerful enough to run Vista they must run either Linux or Windows XP.  So, Microsoft had to cut on their profits by selling XP to netbook's manufacturers - at a fraction of the cost of Vista - or watch Linux taking some more market share.

Another version of Windows is coming... another potential Linux killer?

In his article "Windows 7: Microsoft's Linux killer?" Preston Gralla pretend that the next version of Windows could be a Linux killer.

First tentative to contact MainActor's creator
