I am having troubles viewing the wiki and other pages on this site.

I am very interested in Cygwin portable, I have downloaded the zip file and extracted it, but I don't really know what to do next. Are there any installation steps/instructions? Should have I extracted the zip file directly to a usb stick? Does Cygwin portable include the X server/client? Can I use Cygwin ports?

Any help much appreciated, as I am a little confused. :)

Hi Josh,

Thanks for your interest in this project.

We're in the process of reviving this project right now. CygwinPortable 0.2 (the version published on SourceForge.net) is outdated.

I'm updating the portableapps plateform and Cygwin at the moment. Once I'm done, I will publish a new release. The wiki will be updated shortly with documentation (user's and developer's). I'm aware that documentation is lacking right now.

We will post news about our progress. Stay tunned!

I could answer some of your questions though :

Not at the moment, but there will be soon.

2) Should have I extracted the zip file directly to a usb stick?

You should first download and install the PortableApps plateform on your usb stick.

3) Does Cygwin portable include the X server/client?

No. It is only a base install. You could always add new packages to customize your CygwinPortable afterward. Right now, the update process is broken (read: outdated).
